Shukra (Venus) mahadasha for Dhanu (Sagittarius) Moon sign

In the Vimshottari system a life moves through nine long periods, each ruled by one planet. The planet that rules the period sets the tone of those years: the areas of life that come forward, and the kind of effort that pays.

The Venus mahadasha lasts 20 years in full. Most people meet it partway through, so the part they live through can be shorter.

Venus stands for love, partnership, comfort, beauty and the arts. Its period tends to bring relationships, pleasant surroundings, creative work and the things that make life comfortable.

Counted from Sagittarius as the first house, Venus rules Taurus and Libra, your 6th and 11th houses. During its period the matters of both come forward:

The 6th house is daily work, service, competition and debts. Its lord's period tends to bring hard work and rivals to deal with, and favours steady routines and paying down what you owe.

The 11th house is income, gains, friends and hopes. Its lord's period tends to bring returns on earlier effort, helpful networks and wishes moving closer.

Venus is neither friend nor enemy to Jupiter, the lord of Sagittarius. Its period tends to give what you put into it; the planets' places in your own chart decide more than this relationship does.

Which mahadasha you are in, and when it began, depends on the Moon's nakshatra at the moment you were born, so it is personal to you. Even within the Venus mahadasha, where the planet sits in your own chart and the sub-periods inside it shape the years more than your Moon sign alone.
