Canada in April 2024: themes from the sky
These are broad themes for Canada in April 2024, read from the chart cast when the Sun entered Mesha, from the country's founding chart and from any eclipse in the month. They describe tendencies in public life, not fixed events.
No founding chart is used for Canada on this page, so it reads from the Mesha Sankranti chart cast for Ottawa and from the eclipses.
Mundane readings here stay with themes and timing windows. They say nothing about any public figure and do not try to name particular events.
The year chart (Mesha Sankranti)
- Cast for
- Lagna
- Mithuna (Gemini)
- Lord of the year chart
- Budh (Mercury) in house 10
The solar year began on 13 April 2024, when the Sun entered Mesha. In the chart cast for that moment at Ottawa, Gemini was rising.
Mercury rules the rising sign and so sets the tone of the year's chart. It stands in the 10th house, which keeps governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world in focus through the year.
Planets that stand out
Moon in the 1st house brings shifting public mood and a focus on everyday needs to the country as a whole and the general mood of its people.
Ketu in the 4th house brings a quieter, inward turn and the letting go of old patterns to land, housing, farming, the season's weather and the mood at home.
Saturn in the 9th house brings slow, patient work, tighter budgets and some delays to higher learning, beliefs, long-distance travel and trade far afield.
Sun in the 10th house brings attention from the authorities and a push for order to governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world.
Venus in the 10th house brings comfort, the arts and easier agreements to governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world.
Rahu in the 10th house brings new and unusual directions, with some confusion along the way to governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world.
Jupiter in the 11th house brings growth, support and wider opportunity to lawmaking, alliances, gains and shared hopes.
The founding chart
No founding chart is read for this country: there is no agreed time for it, or it is older than the charts here can reach.
Planets changing sign
- Surya (Sun) enters Mesha (Aries)
On 13 April 2024 Sun moves into Aries, the 11th house of the year chart (lawmaking, alliances, gains and shared hopes).
The Sun's month puts the official side of these matters in the light.
- Mangal (Mars) enters Meena (Pisces)
On 22 April 2024 Mars moves into Pisces, the 10th house of the year chart (governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world).

Eclipses
- Solar eclipse
A solar eclipse falls on 8 April 2024 in Pisces, the 10th house of the year chart (governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world).
The weeks around an eclipse are read as a time to review and finish rather than to launch new public ventures in the matters it touches.
