India in July 2022: themes from the sky
These are broad themes for India in July 2022, read from the chart cast when the Sun entered Mesha, from the country's founding chart and from any eclipse in the month. They describe tendencies in public life, not fixed events.
Mundane readings here stay with themes and timing windows. They say nothing about any public figure and do not try to name particular events.
The year chart (Mesha Sankranti)
- Cast for
- Lagna
- Vrishabha (Taurus)
- Lord of the year chart
- Shukra (Venus) in house 10
The solar year began on 14 April 2022, when the Sun entered Mesha. In the chart cast for that moment at New Delhi, Taurus was rising.
Venus rules the rising sign and so sets the tone of the year's chart. It stands in the 10th house, which keeps governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world in focus through the year.
Planets that stand out
Moon in the 4th house brings shifting public mood and a focus on everyday needs to land, housing, farming, the season's weather and the mood at home.
Saturn in the 9th house brings slow, patient work, tighter budgets and some delays to higher learning, beliefs, long-distance travel and trade far afield.
Mars in the 10th house brings drive, quick decisions and some heat in debate to governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world.
Jupiter in the 11th house brings growth, support and wider opportunity to lawmaking, alliances, gains and shared hopes.

Saturn is in Aquarius: the 10th house from the founding chart's rising sign (governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world) and the 8th house from its Moon.
Saturn here tends to ask for patience, restructuring and careful budgets in these matters.
On 12 July 2022 Saturn moves into Capricorn: the 9th house from the founding chart's rising sign (higher learning, beliefs, long-distance travel and trade far afield) and the 7th house from its Moon.
Guru (Jupiter)
Jupiter is in Pisces: the 11th house from the founding chart's rising sign (lawmaking, alliances, gains and shared hopes) and the 9th house from its Moon.
Jupiter here tends to support growth and sound planning in these matters.
Rahu
Rahu is in Aries: the 12th house from the founding chart's rising sign (public spending, foreign investment, ports and work done out of sight) and the 10th house from its Moon.
Rahu here tends to stir new ideas and fresh ambitions, along with some uncertainty.
Ketu
Ketu is in Libra: the 6th house from the founding chart's rising sign (the workforce, public services, public debt and day to day administration) and the 4th house from its Moon.
Ketu here tends to bring a review of old ways and a quieter, inward turn.

On 16 July 2022 Sun moves into Cancer, the 3rd house of the founding chart (communication, the media, transport links and dealings with neighbours).
