United Kingdom in August 2023: themes from the sky
These are broad themes for United Kingdom in August 2023, read from the chart cast when the Sun entered Mesha, from the country's founding chart and from any eclipse in the month. They describe tendencies in public life, not fixed events.
No founding chart is used for United Kingdom on this page, so it reads from the Mesha Sankranti chart cast for London and from the eclipses.
Mundane readings here stay with themes and timing windows. They say nothing about any public figure and do not try to name particular events.
The year chart (Mesha Sankranti)
- Cast for
- Lagna
- Mithuna (Gemini)
- Lord of the year chart
- Budh (Mercury) in house 11
The solar year began on 14 April 2023, when the Sun entered Mesha. In the chart cast for that moment at London, Gemini was rising.
Mercury rules the rising sign and so sets the tone of the year's chart. It stands in the 11th house, which keeps lawmaking, alliances, gains and shared hopes in focus through the year.
Planets that stand out
Mars in the 1st house brings drive, quick decisions and some heat in debate to the country as a whole and the general mood of its people.
Saturn in the 9th house brings slow, patient work, tighter budgets and some delays to higher learning, beliefs, long-distance travel and trade far afield.
Sun in the 10th house brings attention from the authorities and a push for order to governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world.
Jupiter in the 10th house brings growth, support and wider opportunity to governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world.
The founding chart

Planets changing sign
- Surya (Sun) enters Simha (Leo)
On 17 August 2023 Sun moves into Leo, the 3rd house of the year chart (communication, the media, transport links and dealings with neighbours).
The Sun's month puts the official side of these matters in the light.
- Mangal (Mars) enters Kanya (Virgo)
On 18 August 2023 Mars moves into Virgo, the 4th house of the year chart (land, housing, farming, the season's weather and the mood at home).
