United States in May 2020: themes from the sky
These are broad themes for United States in May 2020, read from the chart cast when the Sun entered Mesha, from the country's founding chart and from any eclipse in the month. They describe tendencies in public life, not fixed events.
No founding chart is used for United States on this page, so it reads from the Mesha Sankranti chart cast for Washington DC and from the eclipses.
Mundane readings here stay with themes and timing windows. They say nothing about any public figure and do not try to name particular events.
The year chart (Mesha Sankranti)
- Cast for
- Lagna
- Mithuna (Gemini)
- Lord of the year chart
- Budh (Mercury) in house 10
The solar year began on 13 April 2020, when the Sun entered Mesha. In the chart cast for that moment at Washington DC, Gemini was rising.
Mercury rules the rising sign and so sets the tone of the year's chart. It stands in the 10th house, which keeps governance, institutions and the country's standing in the world in focus through the year.
Planets that stand out
Rahu in the 1st house brings new and unusual directions, with some confusion along the way to the country as a whole and the general mood of its people.
Moon in the 7th house brings shifting public mood and a focus on everyday needs to foreign relations, treaties and trading partners.
Ketu in the 7th house brings a quieter, inward turn and the letting go of old patterns to foreign relations, treaties and trading partners.
Jupiter in the 8th house brings growth, support and wider opportunity to shared resources, taxes, insurance and sudden shifts in public finances.
Saturn in the 8th house brings slow, patient work, tighter budgets and some delays to shared resources, taxes, insurance and sudden shifts in public finances.
The founding chart
No founding chart is read for this country: there is no agreed time for it, or it is older than the charts here can reach.
Planets changing sign
- Mangal (Mars) enters Kumbha (Aquarius)
On 4 May 2020 Mars moves into Aquarius, the 9th house of the year chart (higher learning, beliefs, long-distance travel and trade far afield).
Mars here tends to speed things up and raise the temperature of public debate.
- Surya (Sun) enters Vrishabha (Taurus)
On 14 May 2020 Sun moves into Taurus, the 12th house of the year chart (public spending, foreign investment, ports and work done out of sight).
The Sun's month puts the official side of these matters in the light.
