Australia in 2017: themes from the sky
These are broad themes for Australia through 2017, read the way mundane astrology reads a nation: from the chart cast when the Sun enters Mesha each year, from the country's founding chart and from the year's eclipses. They describe tendencies in public life, not fixed events.
Mundane readings here stay with themes and timing windows. They say nothing about any public figure and do not try to name particular events.
The year chart (Mesha Sankranti)
- Cast for
- Lagna
- Mesha (Aries)
- Lord of the year chart
- Mangal (Mars) in house 2
The solar year began on 14 April 2017, when the Sun entered Mesha. In the chart cast for that moment at Canberra, Aries was rising.
Mars rules the rising sign and so sets the tone of the year's chart. It stands in the 2nd house, which keeps national wealth, reserves, food supply and the tone of public speech in focus through the year.
Planets that stand out
Sun in the 1st house brings attention from the authorities and a push for order to the country as a whole and the general mood of its people.
Mercury in the 1st house brings busy talks, paperwork and brisk trade to the country as a whole and the general mood of its people.
Jupiter in the 6th house brings growth, support and wider opportunity to the workforce, public services, public debt and day to day administration.
Moon in the 7th house brings shifting public mood and a focus on everyday needs to foreign relations, treaties and trading partners.
Saturn in the 9th house brings slow, patient work, tighter budgets and some delays to higher learning, beliefs, long-distance travel and trade far afield.
