Canada in August 2023: themes from the sky
These are broad themes for Canada in August 2023, read from the chart cast when the Sun entered Mesha, from the country's founding chart and from any eclipse in the month. They describe tendencies in public life, not fixed events.
No founding chart is used for Canada on this page, so it reads from the Mesha Sankranti chart cast for Ottawa and from the eclipses.
Mundane readings here stay with themes and timing windows. They say nothing about any public figure and do not try to name particular events.
The year chart (Mesha Sankranti)
- Cast for
- Lagna
- Meena (Pisces)
- Lord of the year chart
- Guru (Jupiter) in house 1
The solar year began on 14 April 2023, when the Sun entered Mesha. In the chart cast for that moment at Ottawa, Pisces was rising.
Jupiter rules the rising sign and so sets the tone of the year's chart. It stands in the 1st house, which keeps the country as a whole and the general mood of its people in focus through the year.
Planets that stand out
Sun in the 1st house brings attention from the authorities and a push for order to the country as a whole and the general mood of its people.
Mars in the 4th house brings drive, quick decisions and some heat in debate to land, housing, farming, the season's weather and the mood at home.
Saturn in the 12th house brings slow, patient work, tighter budgets and some delays to public spending, foreign investment, ports and work done out of sight.
The founding chart
No founding chart is read for this country: there is no agreed time for it, or it is older than the charts here can reach.
Planets changing sign
- Surya (Sun) enters Simha (Leo)
On 17 August 2023 Sun moves into Leo, the 6th house of the year chart (the workforce, public services, public debt and day to day administration).

- Mangal (Mars) enters Kanya (Virgo)
On 18 August 2023 Mars moves into Virgo, the 7th house of the year chart (foreign relations, treaties and trading partners).
Mars here tends to speed things up and raise the temperature of public debate.
